Through my hidden sources I have found the blog for Paul Thomas Anderson‘s next film, There Will Be Blood. It is very stealthy and never really gives any clue to an unsuspecting slob like me what the photos on Little Boston News are actually chronicling. It actually looks like a cheesy website for some seafood joint on City Island. Well, maybe this one from May 13th 2006 gives it away. I saw PT Anderson interviewed recently on IFC’s The Henry Rollins Show and I have to say I was impressed and moved by his words of wisdom. He basically was asked the what advice would you give? question and he just said to be fearless. He expanded on the gem by saying when he started out making films he was sometimes paralyzed with fear when people questioned the choices he made, people he thought might no better. The reality was they didn’t, they just had a different opinion. Even though he’s gotten a lot of shit in the past for riffing on Scorsese’s style I think he creates very full, sometimes quirky, cinematic experiences. Hopefully this will be one more.

There was a magazine around a while ago called Scenario. What it did was give you three completed screenplays along with interviews and articles for $20. Okay, $20 is a little high for a magazine but you got three screenplays. I’m assuming with the introduction of sites like Drew’s it just cost too much money to keep going and dried up. It’s a shame because I’m flipping through the only issue I ever bought in 1999, Vol. 5, No. 1, The Paranoid Thriller Issue. It includes The Conversation, Enemy of the State and Mrs. Dalloway. Great. The magazine of screenwriting art. Anybody remember or have any issues?
