Good Day Mr. Kubrick

One Brian Atene tries to get the attention of one Stanley Kubrick via a 1984 audition tape for Full Metal Jacket. Master thespian, Juilliard graduate and all around pretentious ass [yes, I am aware that the blog says the filmmaking of william speruzzi and that could be very easily misconstrued as pretentious but I'm not even close to this guy] Atene felt the need to let the world know that he is still alive by sending us a 2006 audition tape. All I have to say is “Stay gold Pony Boy, stay gold.”

Originally posted 2.12.2006. Since that original post WSF has added Done Deal Pro to the mix. Currently, this offer is $35 a year until December.

What would a New Yorker want with the Wisconsin Screenwriter’s Forum? Well, probably the same thing you will want. I came across this great offer. With a $25 membership fee you get access to the Hollywood Creative Directory, Daily Variety Online and IMDb Pro. Collectively would cost over $500. Give it a look…

I’ve been waiting to see the film Harsh Times hit theaters for a while now but probably not as long as writer/director David Ayer has. Read this Times article on his distribution woes for the film. [Sigh]

The Onion!Marty, Marty, Marty. How they disrespect you so. The director of Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Good Fellas and Casino has gotten snubbed repeatedly by the Academy so now he’s doing something about it.

A very funny look at the major injustice that is Marty’s track record at the Academy Awards. Check out his bid for this year’s Oscar.

Mike Curtis at HD For Indies sits in with the likes of screenwriters Christopher McQuarrie (Usual Suspects) and John August (GO – personal favorite). Definitely worth checking out.

NAB New York

Comments   0   Date Arrow  October 22, 2006 at 12:46pm   User  by William Speruzzi | Print This Post

The Javits Convention Center will be hosting NAB New York, the East Coast’s video show for the professional production and post-production community. If you are a gear head and live in NYC or close enough to get here this week you should check this out. It’s not the Vegas show but it does have some nice highlights:

It runs from October 23-26. I’m going to try to swing by on Tuesday and Wednesday and give a report here. Don’t expect full blown Mike coverage, I’ll do my best. Gotta get out early on Wednesday though, going to see The Killers at the Garden!
