One Brian Atene tries to get the attention of one Stanley Kubrick via a 1984 audition tape for Full Metal Jacket. Master thespian, Juilliard graduate and all around pretentious ass [yes, I am aware that the blog says the filmmaking of william speruzzi and that could be very easily misconstrued as pretentious but I'm not even close to this guy] Atene felt the need to let the world know that he is still alive by sending us a 2006 audition tape. All I have to say is “Stay gold Pony Boy, stay gold.”

Marty, Marty, Marty. How they disrespect you so. The director of Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Good Fellas and Casino has gotten snubbed repeatedly by the Academy so now he’s doing something about it.

The Javits Convention Center will be hosting NAB New York, the East Coast’s video show for the professional production and post-production community. If you are a gear head and live in NYC or close enough to get here this week you should check this out. It’s not the Vegas show but it does have some nice highlights:
- Panasonic Presents P2 HD
- RED Digital Cinema to Premier 4K Footage
- NYC Final Cut User’s Group Meeting
It runs from October 23-26. I’m going to try to swing by on Tuesday and Wednesday and give a report here. Don’t expect full blown Mike coverage, I’ll do my best. Gotta get out early on Wednesday though, going to see The Killers at the Garden!
