[Archive] Good Deal

What would a New Yorker want with the Wisconsin Screenwriter’s Forum? Well, probably the same thing you will want. I came across this great offer. With a $25 membership fee you get access to the Hollywood Creative Directory, Daily Variety Online and IMDb Pro. Collectively would cost over $500. Give it a look…

Shouldn’t that be $35? Also, I can’t seem to find mention of IMDBPro and the Creative Directory on their website. Is there another place we can confirm the offer?

    Thanks

    Hey Matt,

From what I understand you pay a membership fee and the fee reflects the time you sign up. For instance, if you join October-December it’s $35. If you join January-March, it’s $25 and so on.

I can confirm that the services are active for WSF members. I just renewed after being active for 8 months. They are currently having some technical issues with Daily Variety because of the website redesign.

I also just sent them an e-mail to update their site info to include all services that come with membership.

    Hope this helps.

Here is an explanation why they don’t advertise on the website:

I understand what you and this other individual are saying. However, we are allowed by IMDB and HCD to offer their services as we do because we are a non-profit educational group. They have asked us specifically NOT to advertise their services as part of our membership package because of this special arrangement. We honor their wishes because of the great deal they are providing us and we really are an exception to their general rules. It does hurt us in some ways (more members), I suppose, but it would hurt a lot more if they decided to drop us because we didn’t abide by their guidelines.
