Lately I’ve had the attention span of a gnat. Could be that I haven’t had a full night of unbroken sleep in, I don’t know, 200 days now. But I wanted to read something that would stir the pot so to speak so I picked up a couple of books in the Akashic noir series. Don’t know about it? What card carrying crime freak doesn’t know about the Akashic Books noir series? It’s a collection of noir short stories that take place in what seems like just about every city in the world. Starting out humbly with Brooklyn Noir the series has 26 titles with an additional 14 more cities on the way. The writing is excellent and if this is your bag you might want to pick up your chosen city or cities.

I think this video interview of Aronofsky and the cast of The Wrestler is so interesting not so much for the discussion about the film which I’m very anxious to see but for Mickey Rourke’s honesty about his life. I’ve been a big fan of his for many years and I truly miss him doing his thing on screen. He was poised to be a huge….well, you know.

Maybe this will prompt someone to give Barfly the “treatment” it deserves considering that it is no where to be found on DVD for less than $80.
