This is a test of John August’s newly designed screenplay format plug-in for WordPress, Scrippets. It converts your post text into a industry standard screenplay format. If you have a WordPress blog you should try it out and do some testing yourself.
FADE IN:
A MAN sits at his computer overlooking the Hudson River.
MAN
When will I get around to writing today?
A CAT meows. The meows suddenly transform into words.
CAT
Really man. Let’s finish the script already.
The man just stares at the cat.
MAN
Why don’t you write it?
CAT
I will.
MAN
Well...go ahead.
CAT
I will.
MAN
What’s stopping you?
CAT
I don’t have hands you fucking idiot!
The man drops his head in defeat and starts typing.
CAT
(to self)
Works every time.
FADE TO BLACK.

I just upgraded to the new version and things might be running a little out of wack for a while especially with some of the plugins not upgraded for 2.5. Not all of them are 2.5 compliant like the Print This Post plugin for example.
I’m pretty impressed with this upgrade and I know a lot of work went into it to make it load faster with a lot of other built in enhancements. Thanks to the WordPress team and all the developers for creating an excellent publishing platform.
Feel free to contact me if something isn’t working correctly.

I just moved all the old posts from the Blogger version of [This Savage Art]. It’s something I hesitated doing for a long time because well, think of the chaos that could result in importing over 300 posts and comments to a totally different web publishing platform but it is done! So if you take a look at the Archives you will see that everything goes back to May 2005. You can read all those early posts [uhhhh.]
The older posts may look a little messy because of Blogger’s coding conflict with WordPress and various plugins. I don’t know if I’ll ever get around to tagging and cleaning up each individual post but I’ll do a little when I can. Hope ya like.

Sometimes you just don’t feel right until the little things in your life are working. After days of tooling around I think I have a good look for [This Savage Art]. I tried a couple of themes but at the same time didn’t want to depart too much from the last interpretation. Moonlight from Blaze New Media seemed like a good fit. The color scheme reminded me of Mann’s new Vice. A cool slate blue but dark. The grayish off-white and light blue text are easy to look at and won’t fatigue your eyes too much. The header font is still the same, Downcome. Phffeeewww, now I can go back to staring at the wall.

After upgrading to 2.1 of WordPress and getting frustrated with my old theme not playing nice I decided to change the look of [this savage art]. I went with this super clean theme, Barthelme Moonlight. Open space and simple. I didn’t have the desire to jackhammer my way through another WordPress mod but I will probably make some tweaks as I go, nothing too drastic. I likes.
I’ve added a plugin that allows you to be notified via e-mail for further comments on a given post. Enjoy.

Whoooaaaa!!! I can’t believe that I’m actually looking at [this savage art...] right now. I tried to do a WordPress upgrade to 2.0.3 and everything went wrong. I did everything according to plan and followed instructions. Backed up like a good soldier. What I think went all SNAFU was a conflict with an old plugin. All seems okay now. If you see any posts where the text looks strange, different characters like &*%^$# please comment on the offensive post and I’ll clean it up. I think I’ll hold off untill 2.0.4
Oh yeah, Little Feat is playing outside my window right now. Aaagh, city life!

As you can see I’ve made some minor aesthetic changes to [this savage art...]. Still minimal and clean but a little more refined. This is what’s different:
- Starting from the top, I made the header title bigger and more pronounced by using a new larger font and painted it a bold white. The font is Downcome and it’s part of the Misprinted collection from Eduardo Racife. Fonts are cool. I can spend hours looking at them.
- The wrap in the center has been changed to black. Once I made the change it seemed like it should have always been this way. Once you go black…
- In general, just made the text bigger and easier on the eyes. Instead of tiny text in blaring white, I greyed it out and notched up the font size.
- I highlighted the most recent entry by boxing it off and cleaning it up. This carries over to all the pages when you choose a link.
- My favorite addition is this hover effect on the sidebar. Float your cursor over the categories and watch it highlight the whole block. Cool.
- Added highlighted metadata at the bottom of all posts, not just the most recent.
- Added a new Archive page in navigation bar. Archive list on sidebar – gone!
- Footer is now black also.
So that is it. Now maybe I can get down to some content filled entries.

For the three people who come by this savage art… I apologize for not posting all that much. I was finishing an editing job which turned out well, clients were very happy. Hopefully the pilot will sell and I can continue to work with them and stash lots of money away. So over the big 4th o’ July weekend I’m going to do some general housekeeping, add a new feature or two and post a little. So if you see the site in “maintenance mode” don’t be alarmed.
Remain calm, all is well…
